David Spiegel: Principal Investigator
With over three decades of experience in scientific research, Dr. David Spiegel has dedicated his career to developing new paradigms for treating human disease.
Dr. David Spiegel is a Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacology at Yale University. He formed the Spiegel Research Group in 2007 to discover new mechanisms to treat human disease. Through his training as a physician, chemist and pharmacologist, Dr. Spiegel has led the work of his laboratory in uncovering and advancing unique, first-time therapeutic strategies for the treatment of the most challenging diseases, including autoimmune disorders, cancer and infectious diseases, as well as for promoting longevity.

​As an entrepreneur, Dr. Spiegel has successfully bridged the worlds of academic research and commercial drug development to benefit the lives of patients. Harnessing discoveries at his lab, he has founded or co-founded several pharmaceutical and biotech companies, including Allied-Bristol Life Sciences, Kleo Pharmaceuticals, Kymera Therapeutics, Magnet Biomedicine, Reveal Pharmaceuticals, Moda Pharmaceuticals and Virality Diagnostics.

Dr. Spiegel has been recognized with numerous awards including the DARPA HEALR Award, NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, Department of Defense Era of Hope Scholar Award, the Ellison Medical Foundation New Scholar Award in Aging Research, the Novartis Early Career Award in Organic Chemistry, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Explorations Award, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship, and others.
