TransMoDE

The BBB is comprised of capillary endothelial cells connected by tight junctions which prevent the passive diffusion of hydrophilic and high molecular weight molecules across the membrane. 

Thus, any potential therapeutics would require transport proteins, receptor-mediated transcytosis, or adsorptive mediated transcytosis to access the brain.  

 

While existing degraders are capable of protein degradation in the periphery, we aimed to expand our targeting capabilities to the brain through the development of transcytosis-inducing MoDEs (TransMoDEs) that can cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB).
